Adoption Journeys Program Information
What is the purpose of the Adoption Journeys program?
This program exists to preserve families through all steps in the journey after adoption or guardianship is finalized. Services are focused on the dynamics, joys, and challenges unique to the adoption / guardianship experience.
How does the Adoption Journeys program help?
A range of services are provided through five regional offices; all services are provided at no cost to families. These include:
- Adoption-focused Individual Family Support – home-based counseling, consultation, and advocacy with community supports
- Support Groups - for parents and youth
- Social Activities – community outings designed for family relief and community-building
- Family Liaison – direct parent-to-parent or family-to-family connections
- Childcare Respite – limited funds available to offset childcare costs
- Information / Referral – telephone support for adoption information and resources, community referrals, and consultation
- Community Trainings – adoption-competency trainings available to providers and families
This is a voluntary service. Families can join in whichever services best meet their needs at any time.
